Subclass 485 visa:
· International student graduates applying for Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa must be 35 years old and under.
· Apply under Post Higher Education Stream (old name: Post Study Work Stream) if you completed Bachelor degree, Masters degree or Doctorate degree. 50 years of age allowed for Hongkong and British passport holders including graduates in Masters (research) and doctoral degree (PhD) graduates.
· Apply under Post Vocational Education Work Stream (old name: Graduate Work Stream if you hold an associate degree, diploma or trade qualification to their nominated occupation.
Subclass (visitor) 600 and holder of 485 visa:
· Visitor’s visa holder in Australia cannot convert their visitor’s visa or apply for student visa on- shore. It means student visa application must originate offshore.
· Holder of Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa cannot apply for another student visa after the expiry of their 485 visa. They are advised to leave Australia or find a skilled job with PR pathway.
Salary threshold increased:
The Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) increased to $73,150 from $70,000. Employer intending to sponsor and nominate an overseas worker must undertake to pay the prospective employee that amount.
